So this is the cover art for the first season boxed sets. This season has the highest number of episodes of any Pokemon season so far, with 80. It began airing in 1998 through 1999 in the US. This is what started it all. If anyone has ever watched and I'm sure if you're reading this, you have. Ash is late to get his first Pokemon and Professor Oak gives him Pikachu as his first instead of Bulbasaur, Squirtle, or Charmander. You meet Team Rocket with their talking Meowth and what-not. These are pretty inexpensive and you can purchase them online at most of the major stores sites. If you have a good mall around your area, some stores carry a lot of the Pokemon DVDs. I think I paid around...maybe $20 or under on each of the boxed sets. Don't take my word for it, prices may have changed since I bought them.
